An Alternative to Amber

2021

Nanofirillar Cellulose, carboxymethyl Cellulose,, corn starch,  carnauba wax coating, and  surgical stainless steel.
Amber carries a large amount of negative environmental and social impact, with this project I’m proposing a biodegradable alternative for the future. In the jewellery industry transparent amber is more valuable than cloudy amber, and an interesting plant or animal inclusion adds to the value of an amber specimen.

I developed a transparent amber like biomaterial, thick enough to wear it as a piece of jewellery, with encapsulated foraged flowers, making each piece unique in an organic way, just as amber is formed in nature.
